Research Plan – 4

The assessment task

You are required to undertake research into the services current compliance with the elements of ONE National Quality Standard. You must submit a research plan that identifies the following:

• Purpose of the research – name your chosen Quality Area
• Methodology used to collect research – examples of methods could include interviews, reviews, observations, analysis/evaluations etc. Reporting outcome methods could include staff presentation, a written report, informal/formal meetings
• Any ethical or cultural implications of the research – consider areas such as confidentiality, honesty, respect and non-discrimination
• Resources required – for example time and appropriate space for interviews, observation tools/formats, website addresses, professional development workshops etc
• Planned research activities (must include a self-assessment)
• Identified key stakeholders for engagement
• Timeline – describe what you will do and when during the work placement
• Strategies for validating outcomes – examples include ensuring your evidence is authentic, objective and you have used a variety of samples

You must choose ONE of the following Quality Areas from the National Quality Standard to research:


• QA1 Educational program and practice
• QA2 Children’s health and safety
• QA3 Physical environment
• QA4 Staffing arrangements
• QA5 Relationships with children
• QA6 Collaborative partnerships with families and communities
• QA7 Leadership and service management

The research plan should be no longer than 6 pages. The questions within this assessment relate directly to the integrated knowledge contained within the units of competency and are fundamental to your ability to perform workplace tasks correctly. They must answer all questions in order to satisfactorily complete this assessment.

Assessment procedure

You will be provided a briefing on the assessment and the opportunity to seek clarification on the conduct of the assessment. You may seek clarification at any point in time during the assessment task. If you feel you need more time to complete the assessment, you must negotiate the time needed with the assessor. Following the assessment, your responses are to be assessed and marked as appropriate. If you have provided incorrect responses, you will be engaged in a one on one discussion to moderate your knowledge verbally. The assessor must have confidence that you hold the required knowledge. The assessor should record their observations about your demonstrated knowledge and must retain the completed written assessment as evidence of the completed assessment activity.

The assessment task

You are required to undertake research into the chosen National Quality Standards according to the research plan in assessment 4. This includes providing a summary of the chosen National Quality Standard. You must demonstrate that you have engaged with stakeholders through interviews in order to determine current accepted and, application of quality arrangements. You must give a detailed description of the services current compliance against the chosen National Quality Standard and provide recommendations for improvement.

You must produce a report of no less than 600 words with the following;

• Introduction and summary of each of the quality standards.
• A detailed description of the methodology and activities undertaken during the research and resources used.
• key findings of the research.
• A summary of the validation strategies implemented.
• A completed self-assessment (tool provided) must be submitted as an enclosure or an annex with the report.
• Evidence of an Interview (tool provided) must be submitted as an enclosure or an annex with the report.
