Previous assessment has described the four leadership areas according to the self-analysis. Those four areas of leadership include; Charismatic leadership, Democratic leadership, Cross-culture leadership and People oriented leadership. This report will include the summarization of the self-assessment which is done in the previous assessment.
Summary of the Self-Assessment Result
In the management practices, leadership plays a crucial role. In today’s competitive environment, it is essential for a manager to be a good leader who can manage and direct employees towards goal. ("Importance of Leadership", 2015) There are different situations faced by a manager in an organization, so, the manager should have to adopt different leadership styles in different situations. Charismatic leadership style helps a leader to give inspirational motivation to the team members in order to high-level performance and to make members dedicated to the organization. A charismatic leader has many characteristics including communication, humility, maturity, confidence, and self-monitoring. These leaders able to inspire other to do their best. A charismatic person has the positive way of thinking with a focused vision. ("10 Charismatic Leadership Characteristics, Attributes and Traits", 2017) These leaders are very humble and they always give credits to those who deserve and praise their performance. They give value to other members of the team and know their importance in the team. Selflessness is another quality of leaders as they don’t act like they are the most important person. With the good observing power, they understand the right place and time to take a decision. Except than holding a team, these leaders always like to listen to others and know what to say in the different situation.
The second name for the democratic leadership is the participative leadership. In this type of leadership, leader prefers more participation of the group members and gave them equal chance to contribute towards the decision-making process. every group member is free to express themselves in the group. This leadership allows a leader to delegate responsibility to other group members so that they can feel attached to the group. ("Is Democratic Leadership the Best Style of Leadership?", 2016) People in the group get empowered and they become equipped and responsible to complete their task. Because the whole group is involved in the decision making, it becomes easier for the leader to take complex decisions. This kind of leadership is suitable to all type of businesses. Group members under Democratic leadership, are more supportive, honest and having a strong belief in the team work.
According to the self-assessment, third preferable leadership is cross-cultural leadership. In today’s modern era, multinational organizations are affected by the globalization. MNCs hold a large number of employees in the organization which are from different cultures. So, it has become important to the leaders to follow cross-cultural leadership in order to achieve targets. ("Cross Cultural Leadership – Leadership Articles – Tons of Leadership articles for your Learning", 2015) Cross cultural leadership make the leader more effective because the leader becomes unable to communicate with each and every person who are from different countries or following different cultures. It increases the flexibility in the environment which will further help a leader to take a fast and instant decision. Members in this leadership, feel connected and participative to the group. It includes a nature of the challenging environment which helps to maintain a newness in the environment. This leadership also benefits in the optimum utilization of the working team and also enhance the skills of leader to manage people from different cultures.
People oriented leadership style includes the contribution of people in the whole decision-making process. In this type of leadership, the leader is focused towards the relationship maintenance with the group members. This leadership style is more concerned with satisfaction and well-being of the group members. ("People-Oriented Leadership: Definition, Examples, Quotes", 2014) It helps a leader to build a more confident team which is trustworthy and full of confidence. Employees can take most of the decisions with little support by the leader. Job satisfaction level among the group members rises eventually and the workplace becomes more efficient. People in the group enjoy the working in this leadership whereas they are free to give feedback and portray their idea in the organization. People oriented leadership becomes more efficient in any of the organization or in a group, where the leader wants to build a more effective and efficient team.
At the full context, it can ab said that four areas of leadership, which I have defined in the previous assessment, have significant importance respectively. In order to make team better, one has to adopt a better mix of above-defined leadership areas.
Leadership skill is an essential aspect to be possessed by a person and when it comes to the manager, it will become a must have skill. This report has concluded summary of the prior assessment in respect of leadership areas. It has also defined the results by implementing them in group practices.
