Computer Networking is a method by which the data gets transferred between the nodes through a combined medium. The main components required to build a computer network are- a router, network card, and protocols. There are three broad categories of the networks available. They are:

Local Area Network (LAN)- LAN functions for the smaller groups of people and are sited in a small topographical space.

Wide Area Network (WAN)- WAN connects over a large geographic place.

Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)/Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN)- These networks are formed by connecting the wires to a server. The data gets transmitted over the radio transmitters.

A set of interlinked computers is known as Computer Network. The interlinking of the computers may be done through cabling; Ethernet is the most commonly used or via wireless radio waves. The connected computers are called the nodes, which share a single medium.
