Project and Project Management Concepts
A project can be defined as an individual or collaborative enterprise roadmap which is aimed to achieve a particular objective and aim. In another formal way, the project can also be termed as activities which are conducted in an appropriate and structured in order to meet the creation of unique product and services. However, activities which are undertaken to complete daily routine activities can't be considered as a project. For example, developing an IT software or managing the deliverable etc. can be considered a project. A project is a unique, transient endeavour, an event which defines outcomes in terms of outputs or benefits to the individual or group.
The project management can be defined as the application of the process, knowledge areas, methods, experiences and skills which can be used to achieve the project objectives (Morris, 2010). The key factor which is used to differentiate between project management and management is that project management is constrained with some deadlines and fixed events unlike management is an ongoing process. However, due to this major difference project manager professional require a wide range of skills such as controlling, monitoring skills or risk assessing skills etc.

- Initially, the project manager needs to define the necessity of the project.
- After analyzing the importance of the project, requirements related to project are captured as well as estimation of resources and timescale is investigated.
- Develop a business case which justifies the investment plan
- Optimizing and controlling the corporate agreements and funding.
- Leading and motivating a team which is engaged in project development.
- Analyzing the possible risks, issues, and changes to project management.
- Constantly monitor and control the project management plan progress.
- Maintain effective communication plan among different stakeholders of the project.
Project management project plan
The project management project plan is one of the most fundamental requirements for effective project management. It helps in building an implementation roadmap for the project and guide it along the project completion. The formal part of the project which will be created by the project manager can be termed as a project plan. The input of the project plan will be gathered from the key stakeholders and team members, as well as the, will continuously support the project development (Demirkesen & Ozorhon, 2017). - Identify and understand the scope of the project: Before, initializing project plan, it necessary for a project manager to understand the necessity and scope of the project.
- Conduct research: Every project objective is unique and requires hard team efforts for successfully managing the project. Therefore, the project manager needs to ensure proper survey and research related to the project management which helps in ensuring project success in an effective manner.
- Prior create the project plan outline: The project manager needs to prioritize the project management and development activities so that dependencies and bottlenecks of the project management can be taken care of while developing a project
- Communication plan: Effective communication plays a key in successfully completing the project. Moreover, every team member should be given equal respect and the right to keep their viewpoints in project planning.
- Keep up with requirement changes: The project manager should make the project plan in effective manner order in order to ensure that requirements changes can be easily accommodated with routine activities of the project.
Project management approaches
Some of the most common project management approaches are enlisted below:
- Agile: The Agile project management approach is a strategical focused on value-centred project management, which allows the project manager to prepare activities in small stages or cycles. This approach is extremely flexible and companies that display dynamic features would benefit from its sprint division. The agile approach is most suitable for small software projects as well as collaborative team efforts will be increased in this project management approach.
- Waterfall model: Waterfall model is a traditional project management approach which project deliverables are divided into several phases such as requirements analysis, planning, designing, implementing and testing. The model follows incremental management of the project in which complex project is divided into a sequence of activities with the project kick-off.
- Scrum: The scrum methodology reduces the long process of traditional approach i.e. Waterfall into various iterations which help the project manager to effectively manage the entire project in an effective manner. The result of the iterative approach saves project management time, money and efforts in an effective manner.
- PRINCE2: PRINCE2 is an acronym name for the projects in a controlled environment (Sebastien Boyer & Sebastien Boyer, 2019). This approach divides project deliverables into controlled and managerial pieces. This approach helps the project manager to the characterized product into complete in time and within the estimated cost.
