Impact of IT on Organizational Behaviour
Information technology is the use of computers and software with the help of which information can easily be managed by individuals. It is basically used to describe the computers and their networks which helps the individuals to access and share the information through video conferencing, social networking, e-learning, e-commerce etc. Data which is in the form of image, voice, text or audio can easily be managed with the help of information technology. Information technology also helps the individual to share and access the information from anywhere at any time via the internet. Most of the organizations and government institutions use information technology to transfer the information and manage streamlined tasks in an effective manner (P, 2018).
Impact of IT on organizational behaviour
Most of the sociologists have discovered that technological development is the major source of social, political and economic change. Organizations can use information as well as computer technology to maintain competitiveness in the world markets. With the help of technology, organizational behaviour can easily be examined such as the nature of the job, hierarchal, work grouping, attitudes, and skills. Information technology helps the organization to control the labour cost, the relative status of different groups, decision making, career and promotional prospects (D. Alford, 2007).
The main aim of the organizations is to provide good services in an effective manner. With the help of information technology, organizations can easily manage all their functional activities to achieve their business objectives and goals. Healthcare is one of the areas in which information technology is commonly used to provide good health care facilities to the people. By using an online healthcare portal, citizens can easily schedule the appointments, view medical information such as blood samples, X-rays etc., check the patient’s journals easily via the internet. It saves the time of the individuals as well as cost spend on resources such as reduction in paperwork.
The electronic patient journal is one of the examples of IT implementation that has a long term positive impact on the Faroe Islands. Decentralization is one of the processes that bring flexibility as well as difficulty in making an integrated system. It basically presents a barrier to achieve the economies of scale. With the help of a centralized electronic patient journal, activities performed in the healthcare sector can easily be performed. It becomes easy for an individual to exchange digital medical information by integrating with all other systems to receive the medical description from the doctors. With the help of the information system, all the business organizations can easily provide the services to all their customers in an effective manner. It also helps the management to increase the business productivity (Bakan, Eraslan, Taşliyan & Coskun, 2018).
Therefore, it is concluded that information technology plays a significant role to digitize the business and provide more and effective services to the customers. Hence, it important for the organizations to use information technology to serve society and accomplish the business objectives.
