Brief about Virtualization: -
Virtualization is a technique which helps in building the abstraction layer over the hardware and limits the user’s interaction with the physical system. In the virtualization, a single physical device is created which allows users to create multiple physical resources on a single logical resource. The virtualization is also known as the universal theme of hiding the physical characteristics of devices through encapsulation. Virtualization creates an external interface which helps in hiding the technical details and simplifies a system that will allow the user to combine the resources from different physical locations. The virtualization is also helpful in new business and allows to create a single computer system, capable to perform the job of two or more systems (Rekha, 2018).
Classification of Virtualization: -
- Para-virtualized device model: - In this model, no hardware simulation or emulation is performed by using the virtual machine. The machines communicate with the hypervisor with the help of hyper call API for the purpose of instruction dispatch etc. The operating system should be modified to work with hyper call API.
- Full emulation: - In this, a complete set of hardware and peripheral components are emulated, and allows to perform emulation of different sets of hardware devices which are different from the real components.
- Native Virtualization: - In the model, only sections of hardware devices are emulated and rest of hardware devices are used as real. This will provide high performance in virtualization as the users are bypassing the emulation layer and are able to use the real hardware.

àReduces Workload: - In the network, there are many different servers who provide services to users. Sometimes, the workload is increased when more users try to access the system. The virtualization techniques enabled virtual machine can be used to consolidate the workload of different utilized servers to another small number of machines, or to only one device. By consolidation of workload, the costs expenditure on hardware, environmental, management etc. can be saved.
àEasier Backup and Disaster Recovery: - Disasters in the network are swift and unexpected, that can occur at any time without any intimation. The essential data can be wiped out in seconds through leaks, floods, power outages, and cyber-attacks etc. The recovery and backup process is created much swifter and accurately by consuming less manpower.
àSpending is reduced: - As the IT organization are spending their budget on hardware devices which is creating a financial issue. With the implementation of virtualization, the organization is able to cut-down expenditure on different hardware devices because the virtualization allows a different operating system to run on a single system.
àServer Provisioning and Deployment: - The physical devices are difficult to carry and deploy to a new location and especially a problem occurs when the server was required to deploy to a new location. The virtualization enables the system provisioning and deployment in minutes, and also, allows cloning an existing device without spending on installing a new physical device.

To implement the virtualization, the VMWare approach is suitable which creates a finite layer of software through which the users are able to directly operate on the hardware to create and run, different operating system. It allows the users to allocate the multiple operating systems to run concurrently on a single system machine. The VMware provides a robust virtualization platform which can be helpful in scaling hundreds of inter-linked system and storage devices that will provide a complete virtual infrastructure to implement virtualization. VMware is created by VMWare Inc, is a public domain company that is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The VMWare INC. designs and develops different proprietary virtualization products compatible with x86-compatible computers. VMWare provides a user-friendly interface through which the virtual servers can be created and will help in reducing the number of physical devices. By reducing the physical hardware devices, the different costs expenditure like power, cooling cost etc. will be reduced.
àAdministrative Tasks: - The installation of physical devices increases the workload on the administrator. The administrator is required to look around the physical servers and maintains the uptime of physical servers for users. The implementation of virtualization through VMware will automate and simplify the administrative tasks.
Linux Kernel and Linux
Linux operating system requires device drivers to respond to the request that is generated via an internal programming interface. The device drivers hide the details and user activities are performed based on the standardized calls made through the system. By adding a number of Linux device drivers, the vendors are expanding the operations of Linux system for future benefits.
